Way Back (Mr. Peabody) on Tokyo Calling podcast #123

I just received an email from Scott over at Tokyo Calling. He gave Way Back (Mr. Peabody) a spin on the Tokyo Calling podcast, episode #123.

Scott is someone I contacted a few weeks ago asking to give us a shot. My goal was to get our music into the Asian markets. Haven’t had a lot of luck. It’s like they have their own language over there. I can’t read a word on almost any of the podcast blogs I find!

Apparently I have finally succeeded, though. I haven’t listened to this episode, but Scott did give me a heads up that this episode was hastily compiled…so he did not give us an intro or a shout out. The song is just played cold at the end of the episode.

Scott does give us a mention on his blog and a link, so it all works out in the end. Check out the Tokyo Calling blog here:

Thanks Scott and the Tokyo Calling podcast!

  1. I’d love to get Giant Robot a spin over there. It seems like a natural, doesn’t it?

  2. OK…this one is weird. In the middle of the podcast he kinda sings Jerry Reeds East Bound and Down. However he totally butchers the lyrics.
This podcast is VERY stream of conscience.

  3. I dunno about ‘butchered’ makes it seem like such a violent act. No disrespect was intended for Jerry Reed. I worship, “The Snowman.” And was saddened with his recent passing on.

Hopefully, I was close enough. He does say, “son” elsewhere in the song, doesn’t he?

Sorry about not announcing the song title or band name. As I mentioned in email, this was a spontaneous podcast brought on by a runaway thread of thought. Rather than depending on my failing memory and probably mis-naming the song or band, I decided on the approach I used.

I’m hoping to do another one soon to set the record straight. Hoping to play another track, I like the one about the Robot. That of course is if the Lizards still wish to be associated with Japan’s First podcast based on what they heard in episode 123.

I never considered Tokyo Calling a stream of “conscience” thing. Actually, that’s a perfect description. Thanks for pointing it out.

  4. Scott…you played our song so I loves ya…but you butchered it!!

And even your posts are stream conscience!

We’d love for you to play another song if you’d like. We’ll do our best to use our silliness to send people your way as well.

Mr. Pent is not familiar with “conscience”. He admitted this very day to voting for a third-party candidate. What more does one need to know?

Bless you for including us in your consciencious (sp, Matt?) podcast, and please don’t be put off by the fact that we seem to have allowed our blog comments to supplant more direct communication methods among ourselves. Also, Jerry Reed is fabulous.

  6. Thanks for playing our music, Scott.

And don’t mind the Pent’s criticism. He can never remember that the blog is public, apparently.

  7. CONSCIOUSNESS!!!!

When I think about it, I kind of like the idea of a stream of conscience. Like a spectrum of beliefs.

This also makes me realize that Metro is best described as a “Consciousness Objector.”

  8. Haven’t I done that one wrong on the blog previously?
Well, you two can drink from my stream of cumsciousness.

  9. choppernewt Says:

    That was predictable.

Quit with the backtalk and go download the BP draft.

  11. I’m glad you were able to find a English-language Japan podcast!

  12. You should start one and add it to your blog! I mean, your story is interesting.

  13. Sir Pent,

Agreed, from a quick look at Tokyo5’s blog, it would seem that he’d have a rich story to tell in podcast form. It’s only through you and your Lizard From Afar that I was able to discover him and what he’s up to.

Thank you for making this connection possible.

  14. I’m just tryin to see if I can get 13 teenage girls to tie me down and use me like the horse apparatus in a gymnastic routine.

  15. I’m just trying to see if I can tie Pent to 13 horses and use him like a tug-o-war.

  16. Sir Pent & Scott…

    >You should start one and add it to your blog! I mean, your story is interesting.

Thanks for the kind words. But I wouldn’t know how to add a podcast to my site…even if I had the time. Just maintaining the blog uses enough of my free time!

  17. Yeah, life certainly gets in the way of life.

  18. Giant Robot is featured on TC 124 – both song title and band name are announced this time

    thanks for the fun music

  19. Scott,
Thanks for the spin. I’ll hop over and give it a listen later today!
